"We don’t grow into creativity, but we can grow out of it."
Led by two creative parents, my childhood was rich with creativity, innovation, thinking outside the box, and living with the land.
From homemade birthday cakes made into nearly anything we wanted, to playing in the mud with my brother, carving or decorating pumpkins, Easter bonnet contests at the local mall, trick-or-treating in homemade costumes, boondoggle at camp, painting my used bike red, a paper mache Valentines box, sewing my own Girl Scout uniform, sewing or creating clothes for my dogs, grooming schnauzers, and raiding the DI bin for dressing up for dances in college. My life has been enriched with creative expression.
Life is meant to be noticed and enjoyed, and the arts help us to do that. The arts help us to capture the magic moment, create color amidst the dull, and bring music when there might be tears instead.
